The gardens can be entered through the little gate or 'geatin' situated directly across from our front door. This walk will take you beneath the original 16th century castle walls, before sweeping down to the river Finisk and Mountain Castle bridge. From here the garden walkway will take you back to the main entrance and the 14 foot original castle gates which were in place before the erection of the bridge. It is said that two horses had to be employed to haul them across the river! The stone enclosed avenue will lead you back to the house's front gardens, where a gentle detour will lead you to the castle cellar. This cellar was closed for many years before being reopened in 1990. It provides an interesting view of the castle's foundations, which are built into the solid rock beneath.
The River Finisk which flows through the family farm is a prominent local fishing spot. It is ideal for any visitor searching for a relaxing angling holiday. If a breakfast of pan fried trout is to your taste, then we will be only too happy to oblige. That's if you have any luck of course! (Rods and reels provided).
